My law practice charge a minimal consultation fee of $100.00 for all consultations ($200.00 for child custody/visitation). The $100.00 consultation fee will be applied towards the retainer fee, if you decide you would like to hire me. This fee is assessed because this time is specially set-aside for You and Only You to discuss the particulars of your case, review your paperwork and any physical evidence you may have, in addition to answering any questions you might have. Because this is YOUR time, I will be able to understand better your goals, desires and what you expect from my representation. In order to be the most effective advisor and advocate possible, I give personal attention to each client, listen carefully, and are attentive to their needs and requests. You are encouraged to ask as many questions as needed to be sure you are getting the advice you need and that you understand your legal options.
The information-gathering process allows me to give you customized advice. You will fully understand the process before leaving my office, why? Because I will take the time to thoroughly explain the process to you. I understand that this can be a very stressful process and you may not remember everything you needed to ask while in my office. I often encourage clients to feel free to call me after our consultation if they think of any questions they forgot to ask during the meeting.
NOTE OF CAUTION:
Many potential clients desire to see me who are still in an attorney/client relationship with another attorney. Please note although I would love to talk with you, I am ethically bound not to get involved with your case if you have not terminated your relationship with a current lawyer.
Please feel free to fax or email over any documentation that would assist us in our meeting prior to the appointment. In fact, if a case has been filed by you or an opposing party, it is crucial that I review all the filed documents prior to the meeting. If you are unable to get the paperwork to me in advance, please fill free to bring an extra copy to the meeting. When this is done, it gives us more time to discuss your case and your desired outcome. The consultation is YOUR time, so the better prepared you are, the more we can help you.
Methods of Payments
Ms. Brown accepts payments by cash, all major credit cards, money orders, and cashiers checks. No checks please. Ms. Brown will be glad to make payment arrangements with you to pay your balance in installments after the initial retainer fee.
Helpful Things in the Initial Consultation
• Any documents you have filed or may have received from the Court and/or an opposing party; Judgment of Divorce and any other Court Orders
• Pictures(if relevant to your particular case), texts, emails, other social media evidence in your possession (again, if relevant to your case)
• Social security numbers
• Last check stubs and/or last filed Federal Income Tax Return
• Current address, (home or work) of the opposing party.
I also think it’s a good idea to bring Hope, Faith and a Positive Attitude as you embark on probably one of the most difficult decisions in your life.
